Descrizione
Justin Meldal-Johnsen is known for playing bass in the bands Beck and Nine Inch Nails, and has also worked with bands and artists such as Paramore, Jimmy Eat World and Macy Gray. This Fender Mustang Signature Bass was modelled after his personal favourite, an offset shortscale from 1967. This signature edition in Faded Daphne Blue has a vintage Road Worn finish to make it look as though it's been through the ringer!
Justin Meldal-Johnsen Mustang Bass: Punchy, comfortabl and reliable
The Seymour Duncan single custom split single-coil pickup is what gives this bass a punchy variation of the Fender Mustang RW's balanced acoustic sound. It has an alder body and a bolted-on C-profile maple neck as well as a fixed bridge with four saddles and a string-through-body construction. This bass boasts great sustain and a stable tone, especially in combination with the vintage-style machine heads. With this Fender offset, you've got a familiar 9.5-inch fretboard and a short 30-inch scale length at your fingertips. The string tension is therefore a little lower and the frets are closer together, which make this instrument particularly comfortable to play. The Fender Road Worn Bass is suitable for bassists who want to make a statement in terms of looks as well as sound.

Deze bas is met afstand de meest comfortabele en best-klinkende Mustang in de huidige Fender lineup. Na vaker op originele '60s en '70s modellen te hebben gespeeld, kan ik met vertrouwen zeggen dat de JMJ Mustang qua gevoel en sound hier het dichtste bij in de buurt komt (of zelfs overtreft!). Je ontvangt enorm veel kwaliteit voor de prijs, wat je niet altijd kan stellen bij Fender tegenwoordig. Een parel waar ik in één klap verliefd op was.
Ik zou de bas wel langs een luthier brengen voor een goede afstelbeurt. Zoals Bax de bas in de winkel had hangen, was de intonatie vrij matig. De meegeleverde snaren zijn prima, maar een set LaBella flatwounds brengen de bas een stuk meer tot leven in mijn mening.
De bas voor een scherpe prijs gekocht en was op dat moment niet voorradig. Door de klantenservice van Bax ben ik steeds goed op de hoogte gehouden over de levertijd.
Voor een bas van deze kwaliteit viel het tegen hoe deze werd afgeleverd door Fender. Dit had een stuk beter gekund. Maar na afstelling door een goede luthier en voorzien van Ti flatwounds is het een genot om op te spelen. De unieke sound, de bespeelbaarheid maken dat je deze bas niet meer los kan laten.
